PREDICTION OF HEAT CAPACITIES OF SOLID BINARY OXIDES FROM GROUP CONTRIBUTION METHOD

J. Leitner, D. Sedmidubský, P. Chuchvalec

The group contribution method proposed by Golam Mostafa et al. and its use for the prediction of heat capacities of solid binary oxides is discussed. Cpm(298) for 113 oxides were predicted and the mean error of 4.3% and the maximum error of 26.3% were found. The proposed temperature dependencies of Cpm of the form Cpm = a + bT + c/T2 + dT2 show in some cases unrealistic behavior due to the negative value of the predicted constant d.
