THE EFFECT OF CRYSTALLIZATION ON THE BASICITY IN THE SYSTEM Li2O–2SiO2

C. Căpățînă, C. M. Simonescu

The paper presents the study of the crystallization influence on the basicity in the Li2O–2SiO2 glass. The quantitative methods were used for the basicity determination of the oxide glasses. The Li2O–2SiO2 samples were thermally treated at 560°C, for 20, 30, 55, 95 minutes in presence and in absence of Cu2+ as indicator. The experimental results showed that when the crystallinity degree increases, the wavenumber of the Cu2+ absorption decreases corresponding to a higher basicity of samples. It was observed an increasing of the maximum diameter of crystallites and a decreasing of the crystallization speed with the extension of the thermal treatment time at 560°C.
