HIGH-TEMPERATURE VISCOSITY AND DENSITY OF ALUMINO-BOROSILICATE GLASSES AS A MODEL SYSTEM FOR COMMERCIAL E-GLASS

J. Kraxner , R. Klement , M. Liška

High temperature viscosity and density of glass melts in the system MgO–CaO–B2O3–Al2O3–SiO2 with composition close to the E-glass were measured and interpreted with respect to the effect of oxides content on their physical properties. The Andrade model was applied for description of the temperature dependence of the glass viscosity within studied temperature range. The regression formulae describing the compositional dependence of the viscosity points T2 = T( = 102 dPa.s), T3 = T( = 103 dPa.s), T4 = T( = 104 dPa.s) and molar volume of glass melts and glasses were proposed.

Keywords: high temperature viscosity, density, E-glass, fibre glass
