EFFECT OF ADDED TiO2 AND ZrO2 ON THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF Li2O - SiO2 GLASSES: THERMAL AND DIFFRACTION PROPERTIES

E. Jóna, K. Moricová, V. Pavlík, D. Ondrušová, M. Pajtášová

Five glasses with the composition of Li2O - 2 SiO2 (a), Li2O 2 SiO2 - 0.03 TiO2 - 0.03 ZrO2 (b), Li2O - 2 SiO2 - 0.05 TiO2 - 0.05 ZrO2 (c), Li2O - 2 SiO2 - 0.075 TiO2 - 0.075 ZrO2 (d), Li2O - 2 SiO2 - 0.1 TiO2 - 0.1 ZrO2 (e) were prepared and the relationship between structural and kinetic parameters of thermal stability vs. crystallization has been studied. The XRD patterns proved of the presence of lithium metasilicate as a favoured crystallization phase. The order of thermal stability vs. crystallization of studied glass systems based on the values of activation energy is a ≈ b < c< d < e. It has been shown that the values of activation energy obtained from the Ozawa and Kissinger are equivalent.
