LEUCITE PORCELAIN FUSED TO METALS FOR DENTAL RESTORATION

M. Mrázová, A. Kloužková

The aim of this work is to provide an overview of dental porcelains fused to metal used for dental restorations. The paper shortly adverts to a historical development of leucite ceramics as well as to a description of leucite itself. A ternary-phase equilibrium diagram of the K2O-Al2O3-SiO2 system with its area of the primary crystallisation of leucite is briefly discussed. The methods of preparing industrially produced leucite powder as well as new, ‘low temperature’ methods are presented. The fusing temperature of leucite porcelain with regards to its resultant properties is also discussed.
