The application of synthetic phillipsite prepared by hydrothermal alteration of power plant ashes to decreasing the concentration of ammonium ions in waste waters were followed. Final concentrations lower than 1 mg NH₄⁺/l were reached in batch arrangement. Sorption capacity of synthetic phillipsite was significantly higher than that of the natural Slovakian clinoptilolite.
