THE CALCULATION OF LIQUIDUS CURVES OF THE SUBSYSTEMS IN THE THREE-COMPONENT SYSTEM MgO-CaO-SiO₂

The liquidus curves of binary and pseudobinary systems were calculated using the Le Chatelier-Schreder equation, obtaining the activities required for the calculation by formal use of the conformal solutions theory. A structural analogy of crystalline phase and melt was assumed in the calculation. The resulting liquidus curves were compared with experimental ones. The agreement was relatively satisfactory as shown also by a comparison of relations ae = f(x) calculated theoretically and yielded by experimental measurements.
