The paper deals with the description of the design and function of the high-temperature drop calorimeter for the measuring of increases in enthalpy of solids and liquids between a chosen temperature in the range of 1200-2000 K, and 298 K. The samples have a volume of 1-1.2 cm³ and are placed in PtRh10 crucibles 10 mm in diameter and 13 mm in height. The sample temperature in the furnace is measured by a PtRh6-PtRh30 thermocouple. The calorimetric block proper has a capacity of 3.8876 ± 3.6 x 10-3 [kJ.K-1]. The temperature increase values in the range of 1800-3000 J are measured with an error of 5 J.
