The solidus temperature as well as the position of the eutectic point was determined approximately by the use of the heating microscope. However, the static measurements were decisive for the construction of the phase diagram. Rapidly quenched samples were subjected to X-ray and mineralogical analysis. On the basis of the temperature data and the phase analysis the regions of coexisting phases were demarcated on the MCr-C₂S connecting line in dependence on temperature. The mutual formation of solid solutions (3.5 % C₂S in MCr and 8 % MCr in C₂S at the solidus temperature), the solidus temperature (1 660 ± 4 °C), and the composition of the eutectic mixture (21.7 % MCr and 78.3 % C₂S) were determined. These results were finally discussed and confronted with the data by El-Shahat and White as well as those of Schwiete, Krönert and Lim. |
