Transformations of gypsum taking place in the medium of liquid water in the equilibrium with water vapour at temperatures of up to 350 °C were investigated directly by means of the differential thermal analysis. The measuring equipment is described and the curves obtained are shown. The transformation of gypsum into α-hemihydrate is indicated by an endothermal peak starting at about 112 °C. Another endothermal peak starting at 250 °C probably corresponds to the transformation of hemihydrate to anhydrite III which at 270 °C is converted exothermally to anhydrite II.
