A method of stress-strain measurement by means of a torsion-testing instrument has been applied in the investigation of unfired basic bricks with various kinds of chemical bonds in the temperature range involving destruction of these bonds. The relationship between the stress transferred by the testpiece and the fixed strain has been registered by means of a xy-recorder. The mechanical behaviour of testpieces with different kinds of bonds is different. It has been concluded that not only the values of strength but also the values of deformability, i.e. the ability of bricks to get strained without damage to their compactness, are important for assessing their technical value. |
