Sintering is the most versatile process of making inorganic mqterials from substances which cannot be melt, cast, and plastically worked. All materials which can be melt-cast can also be prepared by powder metallurgical processes but not vice versa. With ceramics sintering is, of course, the most popular fabrication process.
