The strain rate ε at steady-state creep depends on stress a approximately according to the equation ε = kσn. In determining the constants k, n, or the values of ε, σ from tests on specimens stressed by bending, one should take into account the fact that both ε and σ have different values at different points of the specimen. The required relationships have been derived in the present study. The analysis of the values measured is based on the relationship between the rate of characteristic deformation w and the characteristic load F, i.e. ln |w/w₀| = nln |F/F₀|, which holds quite generally regardless of the kind of loading and the type of deformation. In the derivation, use can be made of the analogy between the deformation rate at creep and the degree of deformation of a similar body from a non-liearly elastic material.
