The total silver content and the distribution of silver concentration in glass samples, resulting from interaction at 350 °C between glass and silver nitrate melt, were determined experimentally. In some instances, an external de electric field was applied in order to compare the diffusion and migration effects. The total silver content and distribution of silver concentration in glass depend on the magnitude of do current. The former dependence was found to be linear. The shape of the concentration profile varies from that of a typical diffusion curve to a rectangular profile according to the de current applied. The experimental data have been described by a simple theory with satisfactory accuracy.
